Day Three: Favorite Cartoon Series
Generator Rex

For information on this series you can visit the wiki-page here  [link]

It’s because of this article that my view on Generator Rex was changed drastically. It’s still my favorite, but even more so because some of these voice actors are just ridiculous. Daryl Sabara is the voice of Rex. Daryl Sabara, AKA Juni Cortez from Spy Kids. I am not kidding. Teeny tiny, carrot-top Juni voices tall, dark and hot ass Rex. Was ist das? Was. Ist. Das. Oh, and the best part… Fred Savage. You guys remember Fred Savage, right? Sick kid in the Princess Bride? Talks smack to his grandpa? Yeah, him. Well, the wonderful Fred Savage who is forty something years old now still sounds like a thirteen-year-old boy. And he’s the voice of my favorite character, Noah. I know. It’s fantastic.

And because of White Knight’s voice actor, I actually like him as a character now. J. K. Simmons, who plays Will Pope on The Closer, voices White Knight. Pope is one of my favorite characters on that show, if only because he’s the only one who can take Brenda’s crap and dish it right back in her face. But finding out that he voices White Knight made me see the character in a whole new way. Albeit that light is OMGFAISILUVTHATGUYOMG, but hey, White Knight is a complex character with a lot more depth to him than I originally thought. After a five minutes of deep contemplative thought I grew to love the ancient bastard.

When Generator Rex started back in May(?), I will admit that I set my standards really, really low. I mean “This has to be better than Spongebob” low. My best friend ~PolarisBloom and I sat down to watch with hopes that at least it would give us a few laughs. And if it was really bad at least we had the Gwen and Kevin Show Featuring Ben Tennyson right after it.

Now, we watched the opening theme song and knew right then and there that it was going to be BAD. In other words, I was destined to love it. And that fact was only made clearer when they introduced Noah. No sooner does he introduce himself than my mom, without missing a beat, adds “I’m the resident gay.” That was pretty much the last nail in the coffin. No, I take that back. The last nail in the coffin was when Rex grabbed Noah and flew away into the sunset as Van Kleis’s Tower of Cannibalism crumbled in the distance. I had found my OTP.

Of course, Rex and Noah aren’t my favorite OTP. Oh, no, no, no. My favorite OTP: Doctor Holiday and Agent Six. They might as well just come out and say that they’re married. There is no hiding that. I mean, come on, they already have a kid (Rex) and a dog (Bobo, and by dog I mean genetically engineered monkey) and they all live together in a beautiful house with a garden (the Petting Zoo where they keep all the genetically engineered deadly animals). And Rex even gets to have his boyfriend over for an afternoon of videogames, milk, cookies and hot teenage sex – I mean horror movie marathon. Yeah…

Though the first episode was a little less than crap, the second episode blew me away. It battled the issue of sacrificing a population (in this case the entire city of Manhattan) to ensure the safety of the rest of the world. There was a zombie guy turning other people in zombies and you get the picture. It wasn’t pretty, and I’m pretty sure it didn’t smell too nice either. Eventually, all did get resolved and White Knight didn’t get to kill millions of people to save the world. But that’s not my point. When you introduce controversial issues like this one into a kid’s story/show/whatever, it starts the little buggers’ brains going a mile a minute. Yes, it does teaches them right from wrong, and no, little Timmy Johnson isn’t going to understand why millions of innocent people had to die to prevent a plague, but the idea is there. And if little Timmy Johnson is smart, he’s going to remember that idea and build on it when he gets older and starts to realize that the world isn’t all black and white. Hell, the world of Super Heroes is the epitome of the proverbial Gray-Area, but that’s another rant.

I can safely say that I enjoyed all of the episodes that Cartoon Network had aired thus far and am trying to patiently wait for them to release more. Especially since Noah hasn’t been seen or heard from since the end of episode four and we’re on nine(?) now? Oh, and CN… I am getting real sick of you teasing us by replying all of those nine episodes over and over. Either you have the new episodes or you don’t. If you don’t, then get off your ass and give me my Noah back!
